New Hires and Facility Expansion

Riverside Engineering is pleased to announce the expansion of our
San Antonio Office and Distribution Center.

The Interpark office complex is located at 121 Interpark Boulevard in San Antonio, Texas.

The expansion into the adjacent property supports the company efforts to expand inventory stocking levels and shorten lead times on critical components.  The under roof warehouse will grow by 90% from the current size plus there will be an additional 4,000 square feet of outdoor storage space available.

In addition to expanding product lines and inventory, the new facility will allow more space for Riverside's custom electrical panel assembly shop.  The UL listed and Rockwell certified Controls Automation group will increase their footprint to accommodate the record sales levels and projected growth.

To support the surge in Riverside's Controls/Automation business, Robert Chancellor and Nick Merrill have joined the Riverside team under the direction of Ron Jenkins. Robert comes to Riverside with several years of industrial/PLC automation experience supporting a variety of energy companies. Robert is a licensed journeyman and certified instrumentation technician with specialized skills in project management. Nick is a recent graduate of UTSA with an EE degree. In addition he is pursuing his master's degree at UT/Austin on weekends.  Nick's most recent experience has been with Hill Country Electric working counter sales and warehouse management.

Demand Shaver

Riverside Engineering Releases "Demand Shaver"
Press Release 4/16/2010

Riverside Engineering has developed and launched a Shredder Energy Demand Management program that reduces peak demand usage and saves operators an average of 20 to 30% in energy costs! The company's Demand Shaver system is a proprietary algorithm with user selectable parameters that automatically controls the shredder feeding and material flow to smooth power consumption and eliminates expensive spikes in energy demand. The PLC-based program monitors real-time power consumption, shredder data including RPM, Load and Motor Thermal Capacity. Based on the monitoring of these process variables, Demand Shaver will adjust Infeed and DFR to an optimal rate based on the utility rate structure with minimal impact to overall production volumes. M-69 Shredder and Downstream

Riverside Engineering M-69 Shredder and Downstream System Introduction

Riverside Engineering, a leader in auto shredder systems, has introduced its new M-69 Shredder series. The M-69 X 107 design utilizes many of the technological advances found in the company's MegaShredder® product line. The engineering challenge was to retain the critical features of the MegaShredder® in a smaller shredder at a more affordable price to ensure a high ROI with limited risk for monthly processing volumes in the 3,000 to 8,000 tons per month range.

When powered by a 2500 HP drive motor, the M-69 shredder system is capable of processing more than 75 tons per hour. The M-69 can handle whole car bodies, white goods, light industrial scrap, lightly compressed logs and bales due to its high inertia rotor and heavy hammers. The complete system package includes shredder, motor drive, infeed, one magnet downstream, single roll feeding, chute and controls package. Riverside 's M-69 equipment package is complemented by project management and installation services.

Andersen's Salvage Shredder

Andersen's Salvage Purchases Shredder Plant from Riverside Engineering

Press Release 7/10/07

San Antonio, Texas - July 10, 2007 - Riverside Engineering has announced the sale of an M-88 Shredder System to Andersen's Sales and Salvage for their Greeley, Colorado recycling facility.

The Shredder System ordered by Andersen's Sales includes the 88 X 112 Shredder Mill, Feed System, Operator Station & H2PRO Water Injection. The Shredder plant will be powered by a 4000 HP DC Shredder Drive supplied by Quad Plus and the company's upgrade plan will include a new downstream separation system from Osborn Engineering. The shredding and separation processes will be controlled by a Rockwell Automation system designed by Riverside.

Based on the new capital investment the firm expects to increase their production capacity to shred and recycle over 15,000 tons per month of scrap autos and other metal products into raw materials for reuse by primary metal industries.

"Our choice of Riverside was based on their heavier hammer and the higher inertia of their rotor compared to other shredder manufacturers 80-inch machines." said Dean Andersen, owner of Andersen's Sales. Mr. Andersen expects the new processing facility to be installed by early 2008.

"We have integrated several of the key design features of our MegaShredder into the smaller M-88 system." says Randy Brace, president of Riverside. "We are excited about the opportunity to work with the Andersens on this project. We have high expectations and Andersen's Sales is the perfect customer for our first M-88 installation." The M-88 will complement Riverside's M-122 and M-106 models plus the Newell legacy systems supported by the firm.

Andersen's Sales and Salvage is based in Greeley, Colorado with a 38-acre recycling facility consisting of metal shredding operations along with a self-serve auto parts business. Since the company's founding in 1959, Mr. Kennie Andersen, along with his son Dean, has grown this family owned business into a leading ferrous and non-ferrous scrap processor in the Northern Colorado region.
